A performative walk: 'The Line', raised awareness using a sight line (2 Perspective Drawing machines/frames temporarily positioned on both sides of the quarry which provided an optical illusion of the windmill becoming larger as you moved away from it), to demonstrate the position of the lost public footpath. The participants held a white rope line above their heads and conducted a performance around the ‘freshly revealed’ diverted (permissive) path. We provided information about the quarry/mining and the history/use of the windmill and the lost land. An aesthetic and political event, with lively discussions and questions about the history and access to the land and medieval windmills, that has increased access to previously lost/overgrown pathways with the assistance of Dorset Council.
